Icy underground sculptures

Preserved ice crystals from a 10 m deep snow trench in Antarctica near the Neumayer station.
These sculptures, are rather unique and fascinating structures from the depths of the Antarctic.
The crystals are about three to five cm in size and illuminated with two LEDs. One in blue directly under the crystal and one in white from behind to better accentuate the structure and uniqueness. The base consists of a milled piece of wood from the Neumayer station with a sealed surface. A crystal takes about one to two years to grow, depending on humidity.

konservierte Eiskristalle aus einem 10 m tiefen Snowtrench (Schneegraben/ künstliche Höhle) in der Antarktis nähe Neumayer-Station. Diese einzigartige Gebilde aus der Tiefe der Antarktis faszinieren.
Die Kristalle sind etwa drei bis fünf cm groß und werden mit jeweils zwei LEDs beleuchtet. Eine in Blau direkt unter dem Kristall und eine in Weiß von hinten, um die Struktur und Einzigartigkeit besser zur Geltung zu bringen. Der Sockel besteht aus einem gefrästen Stück Holz der Neumayer-Station mit versiegelter Oberfläche. Ein Kristall benötigt ca. ein bis zwei Jahre, um zu wachsen, abhängig von der Luftfeuchte.
